Poll suggests Canadians love Obama despite NAFTA controversy(Broadcast News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) OTTAWA - The NAFTA controversy has apparently done nothing to diminish Canadian voters' affection for Barack Obama. In fact, a new poll suggests Canadian support for the U.S. Democratic presidential candidate has skyrocketed in recent months. A Harris-Decima survey suggests Obama has a nine-point lead in support among Canadians over his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. That is a drastic turnaround from January, when the better-known Clinton had an 11-point edge among Canadian poll respondents. Obama's lead over his potential Republican rival is gargantuan. The poll suggests Canadians prefer Obama over Republican nominee John McCain by an almost five-to-one margin - 39 per cent to eight per cent.
