NTT Communications Silver Sponsor of Rocky Mountain IPv6 Summit

NEW YORK and HOUSTON, April 8, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- NTT Communications Corporation, a worldwide provider of information and communications technology (ICT) solutions, today announced the company will sponsor the Rocky Mountain IPv6 Task Force (RMv6TF) inaugural IPv6 Technology Conference on April 9, 2008 at the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado. Attendees of this free one-day educational conference will learn about IPv6 and its benefits from technology experts and gain valuable information to prepare their organizations for the new Internet.

Charles Sellers, CISSP, a Senior Product Engineer at NTT America and co-founder of the Rocky Mountain IPv6 Task Force, will present "Introduction to Mobile IPv6," at 1:00 p.m. MDT. The presentation will cover how Mobile IPv6 works, what IPv6 mobility can achieve, and several combinations of technologies that can enhance current business models and create new markets with mobile applications.

Also, this week, ARIN (American Registry for Internet Numbers) will host its annual meeting ARIN XXI, April 6-9, 2008, at the Grand Hyatt Denver. In May 2007, the ARIN Board of Trustees advised the Internet community that migration to IPv6 numbering resources is necessary for any applications, which require ongoing availability from ARIN of contiguous IP numbering resources. The current version of Internet protocol, Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4), has been in use on the Internet for over 20 years and cannot meet the long- term requirements of industry or government. IPv6 provides a vast improvement over the current IPv4, deployed in the 1980s, by increasing address space, providing support for mobile devices, and improving quality of service and data security.

The NTT Communications Group provides IPv6 Gateway services that are available globally and allow enterprises to connect to the world's only commercial-grade Global Tier One IPv6 Backbone operating in four continents -- North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. In addition, the company has improved upon the inherent security features of IPv6 with the creation of its IntelliSecurity IPv6 Managed Firewall solution. The solution complements the NTT Communications Group's existing suite of managed IPv6 Gateway Services, and satisfies the need for increased security for IPv6 users. NTT America also provides IPv6 transition solutions through its IPv6 Transition Consultancy, which supports companies' and federal agencies' smooth transition to the upgraded IPv6 network.

"Implementing IPv6 does not end with supporting enterprises and federal agencies," said Cody Christman, director of Product Engineering at NTT America. "Educating regional technologists is a vital component of the IPv6 transition and being part of the Rocky Mountain IPv6 Task Force event reinforces NTT America's commitment to this belief."

The RMv6TF Technology Conference will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. MDT at the University of Denver (DU) Sturm Hall Davis Auditorium. The event is sponsored by the Colorado Research Institute for Security and Privacy (CRISP), under NSF Grant No. 0416969.
