Abaca's Industry-Leading Anti-Spam Solution Now Available for Enterprise Customers

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- Abaca Technology Corporation, an innovator in email protection and messaging security, today announced that its revolutionary anti-spam solution is now available for enterprise customers with the release of the Abaca Email Protection Gateway EPG 3000. Based on a sophisticated, patented technology, Abaca's Email Protection Gateway is designed to achieve a minimum 99 percent spam catch rate with less than one false positive in 20,000 emails--the highest accuracy rate in the industry. Abaca's solution is so accurate; in fact, that the company guarantees 99 percent results for all its customers, including large enterprises. If you're attending RSA at Moscone Center in San Francisco, Calif., April 7 - 11; Visit Abaca's Booth #2305.

"Over 90 percent of the email traffic coming into enterprises today is spam," said Leo Jolicoeur, CEO of Abaca Technology Corporation. "That enormous load can seriously strain a company's network bandwidth, available storage, and employee productivity. Spam can even expose corporations to liability if they unintentionally block legitimate messages while trying to filter their email. With the Abaca Email Protection Gateway EPG 3000, enterprise customers can now catch a minimum of 99 percent of incoming spam with almost zero false positives and no system tuning. It's a solution that frees up their company resources and lets them get back to their core business."

The engine behind Abaca's Email Protection Gateway is ReceiverNet(TM), a proprietary, patent-pending technology that uses receiver reputations to filter spam. A message is considered more likely to be spam when sent to recipients that typically receive a higher percentage of spam than average. Conversely, a message is considered more likely to be legitimate if it is sent to recipients that typically receive a lower percentage of spam than average.

By using the receiver's reputation to determine the likelihood that incoming messages are legitimate or not, ReceiverNet enables Abaca's Email Protection Gateway to effectively block a minimum of 99 percent of spam, along with viruses and phishing attacks. With the ReceiverNet Service, members gain the rating power of the entire Abaca network. The system also learns and updates itself by the real-time tracking of legitimate/spam statistics for each protected user, making spam detection even more accurate as more users join the Abaca ReceiverNet Network.

"The ReceiverNet technology is innovative," said David Ferris, president and senior analyst of Ferris Research. "The technology employs a rigorous, statistical approach, which we found impressive. It should help prevent false positives."
