Synet Windy 31(VarBusiness Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Wireless networking has become the de facto standard for most business travelers, SMBs and even home users. To simplify and combine many of the hassles associated with choosing the correct device and configuring it, Synet Electronics Inc., Little Ferry, N.J., has introduced a three-in-one portable USB wireless router. Called Windy 31, it functions as a Wireless LAN card, access point and wireless router, all in a tiny device resembling a USB flash drive. With support for Microsoft Windows XP and Vista, the Windy 31 automatically launches the installation application as soon as it's plugged into a USB port. It presents a simple, no-hassle network configuration via an easy-to-use gateway manager, and can create automatic connections for VoIP. Windy 31 supports 802.11b/g and access control with support for WEP, WPA and MAC addresses. It includes a base with a USB extension cable, and is available in black or white.
