Telstra Launches Push-to-Talk (PTT) Service Powered by Kodiak Networks

SYDNEY, Australia & DALLAS --(Business Wire)-- Telstra, Australia's leading telecommunications and information services company, announces the national launch of Telstra Talk Now(TM) that includes a Push to Talk (PTT) service based on the Kodiak Networks RTX platform. Along with the Telstra Talk Now service offering, Telstra announced earlier this month that the ZTE F159 handset, with the embedded Kodiak PTT client and Assisted Geographical Positioning Systems (AGPS) is available on the Telstra Next G(TM) network, Australia's largest and fastest national mobile broadband network.

"Kodiak is very pleased to be deploying the Telstra Talk Now service with Telstra," said John Vice, president and CEO of Kodiak Networks. "Operators across the globe have recognized the Kodiak RTX platform as one of the fastest and most reliable on the market."

The Telstra Talk Now service provides a secure, group communications solution on the Next G(TM) network, Australia's largest and fastest national mobile network. The service allows users to make a Push to Talk call, send a text message, leave a voicemail, or start a conference call - all with up to 30 users at once.

The Telstra Talk Now experience leverages the benefits of a two-way radio. There is no dialing, ringing or waiting for the phone to be answered. The service is ideal for short, frequent bursts of communication with the user able to communicate with one person or a group of people - simultaneously.

The Telstra Talk Now service offers customers a comprehensive PTT solution which includes the following mobile applications and features:

-- Availability - real-time presence notification

-- Contact Management - handset-based contact and group lists

-- Corporate Groups - IT administrator-managed contact and group lists

-- Convert to Conference - the ability to convert a PTT session to a mobile call

-- Voice Bridge - mobile conference calling

-- Voice Notes - instant voice messaging

-- Group SMS - group text messaging

Telstra Product Management Executive Director, Wireless and Mobility, Mr. Roberto Vannini said, "With the ZTE 159, businesses can enjoy the benefits of a two-way radio experience and a world-leading positioning system which is able to locate and connect groups of people across the expansive Next G(TM) network. Having the Telstra Talk Now and AGPS features on an ordinary mobile phone means that these users only need to carry a single communications device."

Telstra Talk Now features on the new ZTE 159 are available from as little as $10 per month for unlimited use when you also take up an eligible Telstra Business plan for 24 months.
