Sterling Commerce introduces slotting engine for Sterling Warehouse
Management
(Telecomworldwire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)
Sterling Commerce, a solutions provider and a subsidiary of US
communications holding company AT&T Inc (NYSE:T), announced on Monday
(18 February) the availability of a new slotting engine with Sterling
Warehouse Management.
According to the company, Sterling WMS provides managers with planning,
execution and measurement tools. The addition of the slotting engine
adds another tool that will help companies increase revenue growth
through improvements in order fulfillment volumes without adding staff
or space, and respond to changes in product volumes and seasonality to
maximise product placement and picking productivity.
The slotting engine is expected to enable companies to: optimise the
sequence in which slotting tasks are executed to help ensure their
successful completion; plan the labour required to execute the slotting
tasks with the ability to execute only a subset of the slotting tasks
in the event labour is not available to complete all the tasks; and
determine return on investment and payback for alternative scenarios
before moves are executed.
The engine comes through a partnership with Optricity, a provider of
slotting solutions that offers advanced optimisation engines to enhance
return on supply chain investment. No financial details were disclosed.
