Symmetricom Offers DOCSIS DTI Planning and Deployment Guidelines for the Cable Industry

Symmetricom, a provider of precise time and frequency technologies that
accelerate the deployment and enable the management of next generation
networks, has unveiled a comprehensive set of materials designed to
help multi-system operators (MSOs) improve the reliability of their
DOCSIS (data over cable service interface specification) network
environment.

The company said the materials include:

- Deploying Reliable DOCSIS Synchronization, a detailed guide for cable
operators on deploying the DOCSIS Timing Interface (DTI) in their
networks - iPod video presentation - Streaming Flash presentation -
Audio podcast

Symmetricom has released DOCSIS deployment materials to help cable
providers utilize advanced timing and frequency technologies to ensure
the consistent, reliable performance of new cable services, including
voice, video and data offerings. The new services are placing increased
demands on existing infrastructure, requiring advanced timing and
synchronization solutions to maximize performance. Sub optimal
synchronization results in packet loss, reduced throughput and poor
Quality of Service (QoS), all leading to customer churn. Time and
frequency synchronization solutions help maximize ROI from the existing
infrastructure, increase network utilization and enable the deployment
of more revenue generating applications.
