Oracle to Buy BEA Systems for $19.375 Per Share Cash, BEA Halted and Oracle Down

(Midnight Trader Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Boston, Jan 16, 2008 (MidnightTrader via COMTEX) --
BEA Systems (BEAS) asys it will be bought by Oracle (ORCL) for $19.375 per share in cash. The offer is valued

at approximately $8.5 billion, or $7.2 billion net of BEAS's cash on hand of
$1.3 billion.

The deal is expected to be accretive to ORCL's earnings by at least $0.01-$0.02 on a non-GAAP basis in its first full year after closing.

The deal is seen closing by mid-2008.
