Linux Magazine Names 3Tera a Top Company to Watch in 2008

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- 3Tera, Inc., the leading innovator of grid computing technology and utility computing services for web applications, today announced that Linux Magazine named 3Tera to its list of Top 20 Companies to Watch in 2008.

As a part of Linux Magazine's January issue coverage, the Top 20 Companies to Watch in 2008 list honors companies that are involved in the free and open source software (FOSS) community and that are going to have a major impact on the market in 2008. To make the selection Linux Magazine's editors conferred with industry experts, conducted a reader online poll and drew on their own observations of the industry. 3Tera received the prestigious honor for its Virtual Private Datacenter solution (VPD), which allows companies to get all the benefits of a data center without actually having one. Powered by 3Tera's AppLogic award winning Grid Operating system, Virtual Private Data Centers offer a utility computing solution for operating SaaS and Web 2.0 applications. They eliminate the need for datacenter co-location, private racks and managed hosting services by enabling users to assemble, deploy, monitor and manage all their infrastructure and applications using only a browser.

In addition, the AppLogic catalog features an extensive list of pre-packaged ready to use virtual appliances and whole application templates based on Open Source stacks, which dramatically improve the provisioning, deployment and managing of entire applications. Catalog appliances include popular open source packages such as Apache, MySQL, PHP, WordPress, Twiki, and SugarCRM. "We included 3Tera in our list of Top Companies to Watch in 2008 because its solution is forward-thinking and likely to put them at the forefront of the utility computing trend this year," said Joe Brockmeier, Editor in Chief, Linux Magazine. "3Tera's virtual private datacenters provide organizations with the potential to have complete control over their datacenter, without having to actually invest in a datacenter."

"We are honored to be selected as a winner of Linux Magazine's Top 20 Companies to Watch in 2008," said Bert Armijo, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Product management, 3Tera, Inc. "This award recognizes us as a leader and innovator in the Linux community proving that utility computing is emerging as a major trend this year."
