[December 28, 2007] Others to open during Lifestyle show Tweet (Furniture/Today Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) High Point Since Lifestyle Enterprise set the dates for its January show, several other manufacturers have said they plan to open their showrooms here that week. The Forbidden City Furniture Show will take place Jan. 1416, which overlaps with shows in Toronto and Atlanta and ends just 12 days before the opening of the winter Las Vegas Market. Still, Lifestyle expects as many or more people than the show drew last January, when 700 storeowners and buyers attended. Dozens of other exhibitors opened their showrooms at the same time to lure those visitors in. Bernhardt, Hooker, Fine Furniture Design & Marketing and Legacy Classic are among those who have decided to open for the January 2008 show. American Drew, Lea Inds. and Vaughan-Bassett were open this past January but say they won't show this time. Doug Bassett, Vaughan-Bassett executive vice president of sales and marketing, said Lifestyle sells container loads of furniture in one finish option, which is different from his company's business plan. The two manufacturers don't share many common retailers so it doesn't make sense to open, he said. As the Lifestyle show nears, Furniture/Today will post a list on its Web site, www.furnituretoday.com , of companies planning to open.
