RCN to Provide Digital Cable TV and High-Definition (HDTV) Service in Thompson Hotel Guests Rooms
HERNDON, Va. --(Business Wire)-- RCN Corporation (NASDAQ: RCNI), a leading provider of video, data, and voice services to residential, small business and commercial customers, announced today the signing of a multi-year contract with Thompson Hotels to provide Digital Cable TV and High Definition (HDTV) services to guest rooms at the newly constructed Thompson Hotel on Manhattan's Lower East Side. RCN will deliver Digital Cable TV and High-Definition Television services (HDTV) to the five-star facility's more than 140 guest rooms.
"We built a hotel that will draw Hollywood types, celebrities and VIPs, and we needed a provider who could offer more than just the latest and greatest technology," said Thompson General Manager, Elizabeth Mao. "In contrast to other providers, RCN not only came to the table with Digital and High-Definition Television services and competitive rates, they proved their reputation in the hospitality space by completing their work on a timeline that was in-step with our construction schedule."
The Thompson LES Hotel project required RCN to complete a network extension in order to bring service to the property.
