Aptilo Managed Service Enables Metro Wi-Fi Network in the City of Mecca for Pilgrims to Islamic Hajj, Working with Tropos Networks
STOCKHOLM; DALLAS; AND KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA December 19, 2007 Aptilo Networks, the global leader in integrated solutions for Service Management and Access Control for wireless networks including WiMAX (News - Alert), Metro-Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspots, is managing the service for the metro Wi-Fi network deployed in the City of Mecca for Islamic Hajj, a pilgrimage expected to gather together more than three million Muslims. Aptilo is working with Tropos® Networks who provided the companys MetroMesh system for the deployment.
The broadband Wi-Fi network will be in place throughout the week of Hajj. Internet access is free; visitors need only to register to utilize the service.
Deployed with Bayanat Al-Oula for Network Services, the Tropos-based wireless network utilizes the Aptilo Managed Service, an ideal option for organizations wanting to swiftly deploy a wireless service management solution without burdening IT and network support staff or being distracted from their core business. Aptilos solution enables rapid deployment, a key benefit, as the Wi-Fi network will be enabled only for the week of Hajj. It includes the robust Aptilo Service Management Platform for a highly scalable carrier-grade wireless solution.
Millions of pilgrims will make their way to Mecca this year, many of whom bring their wireless devices, laptops etc., said Torbjorn Ward, Chief Executive Office and Co-Founder, Aptilo Networks. This installment leverages Aptilos rapid deployment capabilities in a scalable platform that can adapt to a larger audience of users should the need arise. We are honored to be a part of this event, offering broadband wireless Internet access to the City of Mecca for this important occasion.
The Aptilo wireless service management platform for public Wi-Fi networks is a multiservice architecture for wireless service management that effectively handles data and voice service delivery across multiple devices while enabling creation of new revenue-generating value-added services and supporting future network scalability in a unified platform.
