Nortel to Resell VoiceObjects Phone Application Server Software

(Market Wire Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) SAN MATEO, CA, December 5 / MARKET WIRE/ --

VoiceObjects, the leading provider of
adaptive self-service phone portals, and Nortel, a recognized leader in
delivering communications capabilities that simplify business process and
reduce complexity, announced today that Nortel has become a worldwide
reseller of the award-winning VoiceObjects phone application server
software suite and associated VoiceObjects services. The suite includes
the VoiceObjects Server phone application server, the VoiceObjects Analyzer
drill-down analytics tool, and the VoiceObjects Desktop service creation
environment. More information about VoiceObjects phone application server
software suite is available at www.voiceobjects.com.

"VoiceObjects offers a unique middleware software solution that allows our
customers to easily deploy and maintain over-the-phone applications running
on our VoiceXML-based Nortel Media Processing Server," said Mark Morell,
Director, Multimedia Applications Product Marketing. "The openness of the
MPS architecture additionally enables VoiceObjects to deliver Nortel
customers cost-effective, end-to-end, carrier-grade self-service phone
portal solutions."

In February of this year, VoiceObjects announced that VoiceObjects Server
had successfully completed compatibility testing through the Nortel
Developer Program. The software now carries the "Nortel Compatible
Product" designation.

In a recent research report by Opus Research, VoiceObjects Analyzer was
awarded the highest possible rating in each of four important criteria for
voice self-service analysis and reporting: support for IVR systems and
underlying databases, real-time logging, flexibility and change management,
and out-of-the-box support for popular business intelligence software. An
executive summary of the report, "Analytics and Reporting for Phone-Based
Self-Service," is available for download at http://www.opusresearch.net.

"We are pleased to partner with Nortel to extend the distribution of the
VoiceObjects phone application server software," said Beatriz Infante,
chief executive officer of VoiceObjects. "Together, VoiceObjects and the
Nortel Media Processing Server will enable Nortel customers to efficiently
create, deploy, and maintain sophisticated, adaptive, self-service phone
applications, providing them with a real advantage over competitors
struggling to manage complex, hand-coded VoiceXML."

Phone Application Server Software

A phone application server is software that enables carrier-grade
deployment and management of personalized, over-the-phone self-service
applications. Generally, full-featured phone application servers have the
following four capabilities:

-- The ability to dynamically generate VoiceXML to create personalized
dialogs with each caller at call-time, using information in an
organization's CRM or other databases. In customer service applications,
the resulting caller-specific conversations provide opportunities to up-
sell and cross-sell and higher rates of customer satisfaction and service
adoption.

-- An application execution environment that supports remote management
and monitoring of multimodal applications, online application maintenance
for instant changes or rollbacks, and guaranteed high availability.

-- Web services support for easy integration between an organization's
phone-based self-service assets and its CRM, ERP, and other IT assets in
service-oriented architecture (SOA) environments, drastically reducing
development time and cost.

-- Support for multimodal phone applications that may include voice,
video, graphics and text interfaces, allowing user-friendly interactive
applications that are unmatched in the phone-based self-service industry.
