Onado has represented the HomePlug alliance all over the world and has served as chairman of the HomePlug Europe work group since its creation. As vice president of EMEA, Onado plans to continue to foster the penetration of HomePlug technology and products inside European markets, as well as develop the membership of European companies inside the HomePlug Alliance. Onado has held leadership roles in the powerline communications industry, having served as chairman of the PLC Forum since late 2005. As the vice president of marketing and sales for SPiDCOM, Onado's roles include defining and implementing SPiDCOM's product strategy, business development and marketing. "HomePlug technology is used all over the world and likewise, the HomePlug Powerline Alliance is a leading international organization, and I see a very promising future for the technology in Europe," said Onado. "The strong growth of HomePlug technology in Europe has triggered European companies to take important roles in bringing this technology to the forefront of the digital home revolution in the EU. HomePlug technology has a very unique place in Europe due to construction materials in buildings. Electrical wires are always present, and HomePlug provides the high-speed, mature and secure technology transforming them into a broadband communication medium." Since its inception, the HomePlug Powerline Alliance has been an international organization, with over 75 member companies worldwide. HomePlug technology continues to make great strides in the European market and offers more than 80 HomePlug certified products available to date. Additionally, the Alliance is on its way to becoming the international IEEE standard for in-home and access powerline communications technologies. At a recent meeting in Boston, the members of the IEEE P1901 work group voted to support the HomePlug/Panasonic proposal over competing proposals, making it the sole MAC/PHY proposal remaining (for voting results, visit http://grouper.ieee.org/groups/1901/P1901_Boston_Results_of_voting.pdf). Onado will be available at HomePlug's European Press Tours to be held on the following dates: November 6 in London, England; November 7 in Munich, Germany; and November 13 in Nice, France.
