Toshiba Enhances Softphone for Its Family of Strata CIX IP Business Communication Systems(Wireless News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Toshiba America Information Systems, Telecommunication Systems Division, announced the launch of the newly enhanced Toshiba SoftIPT softphone. Compatible with Toshiba s entire family of Strata CIX IP business communications systems, Toshiba SoftIPT 2.1 wirelessly extends the features and functionality of Toshiba desktop telephones to suitably equipped PDAs running Pocket PC 2003, Pocket PC Windows Mobile 5.0/6.0, SmartPhone Windows Mobile 5.0/6.0 as well as notebook computers, tablet PCs, and PCs running Windows 2000 or Windows XP and soon to be released for Windows Vista. The Toshiba SoftIPT softphone enables users to access their desktop telephone features from virtually any location by connecting to the enterprise s Toshiba Strata CIX IP business communications system through 802.11 wireless networks or virtually anywhere there is Internet access. The new SoftIPT is fully compatible with Toshiba s new IP User Mobility feature and is a supported IP station that work in conjunction with Toshiba s Video Communication Solution (VCS). Toshiba is leading VoIP innovation with its newly enhanced SoftIPT softphone, which wirelessly extends the features of Toshiba s Strata CIX to the user s notebook computer or PDA virtually anywhere there is Internet access, said Eric Abing, product manager, Toshiba America Information Systems, Telecommunication Systems Division. The new SoftIPT supports Toshiba s commitment to mobile empowerment for its Strata CIX users and now gives them even more mobility features, including video communications compatibility and tighter integration with Microsoft Outlook.
