Brix Networks Announces Service Assurance Offering That Verifies Quality of Carrier Ethernet Services

BOSTON --(Business Wire)-- Fall VON Conference & Expo - Brix Networks, a global provider of converged service assurance solutions, today announced a new offering that gives providers of Carrier Ethernet services scalable management of service turn-up initiatives, network and customer service level agreements (SLAs), and visibility across multiple networks to help in their transition from legacy infrastructures to next-generation networks.

The company's BrixNGN(TM) solution allows providers that are focused on cellular backhaul and managed services to conduct automated and on-demand testing, service performance monitoring, and trouble-shooting of their bandwidth-intensive offerings, including inter-carrier peering, wholesale backbone services, private line over Ethernet, and Voice over IP (VoIP) backhaul.

BrixNGN supports the draft IEEE 802.1ag and ITU-T Y.1731 standards, which allow for end-to-end Ethernet Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM). OAM is a set of network management functions that provide for network fault and performance monitoring, diagnostics, and fault isolation that help ensure the dependable delivery of triple-play voice, video, and data services.

"Two-thirds of those surveyed in our recent study indicated that assuring customer end-to-end quality of service along with guaranteeing SLAs are the top two barriers to deploying inter-Carrier Ethernet services on a large scale," said Michael Howard, principal analyst and co-founder of Infonetics Research, a Campbell, Calif.-based market research and consulting firm specializing in data networking and telecom, and author of the report, Service Provider Plans for Metro Optical and Ethernet, North America, Europe, Asia, 2007. "With this announcement, Brix Networks gives providers of Carrier Ethernet services deeper visibility into the quality-impacting issues of their next-generation services from the network core to customer endpoints, along with continuous monitoring, all from a scalable, modular system architecture."

Brix Networks Announces Service Assurance Offering For Carrier Ethernet Services

"SLAs are a necessary market requirement in order to have successful 'better than best effort' and high-quality Carrier Ethernet services," said Charlie Baker, director of product management, at Brix Networks. "BrixNGN enables the scalable, operational deployment of Carrier Ethernet services that meet customer needs across all phases of the service lifecycle, including pre-deployment network assessment, service turn-up, ongoing 24x7 operational monitoring, troubleshooting, and service level assurance."

Today's announcement was made in conjunction with the Fall VON 2007 Conference & Expo being held at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, October 29-November 1, where Brix Networks is a Platinum Sponsor and is exhibiting in booth 1336.

Availability and Pricing

BrixNGN is available now, and pricing varies based on the size and scale of a network operator's deployment.
