Park University and Jenzabar Link to Bolster Park University's Mobile Phone Program(Wireless News Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Park University has announced a partnership with Jenzabar to develop new mobile technology for University students, through a program currently titled PirateConnect. Now in the research and development stages, the program is expected to make a full range of functionality in Jenzabar's Internet Campus Solution (JICS) accessible on Sprint mobile devices via Rave Wireless' platform. Plans call for PirateConnect to make certain JICS functionality such as daily class schedules, grades, registration, and payment available to students via their Sprint mobile devices, and to create offerings as well. Park University saw the need to develop PirateConnect due to the increasing popularity of mobile handheld devices and student preferences for them. Students currently have the option to purchase a Sprint mobile device pre-loaded with Rave Wireless mobile applications that provide communication, academics, community-building and safety capabilities. The Rave Wireless application suite provides Park University students with mobile access to emergency text alerts, mobile assessment tools, GPS-based personal safety applications, school e-mail and directory, and group and club messages. "Given the geographic disparity of the students, Park University students are self-sufficient in managing their educational experience using Jenzabar's Internet Campus Solution portal," says Sara Freeman, Associate Chief Information Officer at Park University. "By making such portal functions accessible via a handheld device, we enable them to take the experience with them anywhere and anytime. We are also looking forward to collaborating with Rave Wireless to offer innovative academic tools to help students review, study, and prepare for classes anytime and anywhere." Sprint recently completed a comprehensive underground and above ground custom network in-building solution at the Parkville Campus in downtown Parkville, MO, a first of its kind in the area. This project provides coverage in more than 1,000,000 square feet of academic and commercial space underground at the Parkville campus. The Sprint Custom Network Solution (CNS) offers mobility to students, increases the underground commons security and provides consistent connectivity for all Park Commercial Underground tenants. The improved coverage throughout campus and capacity of the network affords students seamless access to all of Park University's mobile applications.
