HP Introduces Services Portfolio for Unified Communications Solutions

PALO ALTO, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- HP (NYSE:HPQ) today unveiled a new services portfolio designed to help customers unify their communications to improve collaboration.

The HP Unified Communications (UC) portfolio brings together voice, fax, email, voicemail, video/data/audio conferencing, collaboration, wireless and mobile technologies to improve the way individuals and groups work together, regardless of where they are located or the devices being used.

HP's expertise in telecommunications and collaboration solutions, data networking, enterprise messaging, partner infrastructures, and enterprise services enables it to deliver high-quality and cohesive enterprise communication solutions.

"Unified communications plans that are easy to implement and manage are an increasing priority for our customers, and HP is aggressively responding to this need," said Robb Rasmussen, vice president, Portfolio, Marketing and Alliances, HP Services. "Our technical expertise and partner relationships make HP a leading systems integrator for UC."

Analysts predict that sales of UC applications will continue to grow in the high double digits each year through at least 2010, with unified messaging making up the largest part of the market.(1)

HP Services' Unified Communications solutions

HP is well suited to offer a complete, open-standards UC portfolio, including HP iPAQ handheld devices, notebook and desktop PCs, printing devices, HP Halo telepresence solutions, enterprise messaging, networking tools, mobile technologies, servers, data storage, security services, management software, and collaboration and communication products. HP Services' UC portfolio builds on its existing network and messaging services.

The UC portfolio includes:

-- Assessment, strategy and architecture services that help enterprise customers create custom roadmaps to plan their UC transformation;

-- Migration to IP solutions that enable an IT organization to implement network infrastructure upgrades and enhancements, including Internet protocol telephony (IPT), voice over IP (VoIP) and call centers;

-- Messaging and UC solutions that provide enterprise customers with email and calendar, unified messaging, presence, and voice integration for more efficient communications;

-- Collaboration solutions that enable businesses to integrate telepresence and video/data/audio/web conferencing offerings, software-based collaboration tools and portal solutions, rich presence, mobility/fixed mobile convergence and wireless in secure environments;

-- Integrated business solutions that enable business processes and software applications to be seamlessly integrated;

-- Support services that provide enterprise customers with complete lifecycle services, to help maximize return on investment.

Because each customer's business environment is unique, there is no "one size fits all" UC solution. HP Services experts address this by helping customers in every stage of the UC process -- from finding appropriate starting points and identifying particular solutions to achieve desired business results, to deploying, managing and supporting integrated solutions.

HP leverages alliances with UC leaders

HP is leveraging its global strategic alliances with Cisco and Microsoft to capitalize on their respective strengths and leadership in the UC market. The recent Cisco and Microsoft joint commitment to ongoing interoperability between their solutions helps to position HP to meet customer demands for UC solutions that bridge Microsoft software, including unified communications applications, and Cisco communication solutions.

"HP provided the expertise in the Microsoft and Cisco platforms to seamlessly integrate them together and offer a truly unified communications experience," said Darryl Warren, chief information officer, Lion Nathan, a premium beverages company with operations in Australia and New Zealand.

HP Services is a Cisco Global Gold Partner and offers services for a wide range of Cisco Unified Communications and mobility solutions, including IPT network analysis, preparation, design, implementation, operation, design, and support. "Effective collaboration that directly impacts both the top and bottom line requires skillful integration to create communication solutions that will allow people to connect with people from anywhere on any device," said Barry O'Sullivan, senior vice president, Voice Technology Group, Cisco. "HP's leadership in business-to-IT alignment, strong global delivery services, and close alignment with Cisco enables deployment of open and integrated unified communications solutions that address immediate customer needs as well as future business demands."

Recognized by Microsoft as Worldwide Prime Integrator, HP Services helps customers design, plan, implement and operate integrated VoIP, conferencing, instant messaging and presence-based solutions using Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 and the application programming interfaces Microsoft has published. As a part of the HP and Microsoft Solutions for the People-Ready Business initiative, HP Services also provides HP Converged Communications Solutions (combining instant messaging, data and video conferencing and fax integration) and HP Messaging Solutions that support collaboration using Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. HP Services also works closely with Ericsson to provide software solutions, including the Ericsson Enterprise Mobility Gateway, resulting in a PBX-agnostic, carrier-agnostic and cost-effective global communication solution based on HP Blade System c-Class enclosures. As a Nortel Global Solutions Partner, HP Services leverages Nortel's industry-unique Innovative Communications Alliance (http://www.innovativecommunicationsalliance.com) with Microsoft to optimize customers' existing communications infrastructure.
