Boing Boing Announces Boing Boing TV
SAUSALITO, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- The co-editors at Boing Boing, one of the world's most popular and influential blogs, and Federated Media Publishing Inc. today launched Boing Boing TV (tv.boingboing.net). Boing Boing TV features daily video reports three to five minutes long that are as insightful and entertaining as the wildly popular blog. Boing Boing TV will be available anytime, on demand, free of charge.
"Boing Boing began in 1989 as a paper 'zine that we later expanded into a blog and podcast, and BoingBoing.net now has more than 7.5 million page views a month, with over three million RSS subscribers," said Mark Frauenfelder, co-founder of Boing Boing. "Boing Boing TV is the next logical step in that evolution."
"Boing Boing fans can expect the same curious and irreverent exploration of the world they find on the blog, but now through video," said Xeni Jardin, co-founder of Boing Boing and co-host of Boing Boing TV. "Internet culture, DIY technology, geeky curiosities -- they're all in the mix."
Boing Boing TV was created in partnership with DECA (www.deca.tv), the newly announced digital entertainment studio that creates, finances, markets, and distributes digital entertainment properties.
"We are thrilled to partner with the extremely talented editors of Boing Boing to create Boing Boing TV -- high-quality programming made specifically with the digital experience in mind," said Michael Wayne, CEO and co-founder of DECA. "We look forward to distributing Boing Boing TV broadly across multiple platforms and to extending the world-class Boing Boing brand in new and exciting ways."
Through Federated Media Publishing, which connects marketers with the Web site, Boing Boing TV attracted three-month sponsorships that include in-stream video advertising, pre-show announcements and millions of ad impressions on BoingBoing.net.
"We believe in independent, high quality video on the web," said John Battelle, founder and CEO of Federated Media. "Boing Boing is a seminal brand in the conversational media world, and we're proud to be part of its ongoing expansion into television."
Boing Boing TV is represented by International Creative Management (www.icmtalent.com), one of the world's largest talent and literary agencies. ICM assisted in brokering the deal between DECA and Boing Boing.
