Symmetricom Principal Technologist Featured Speaker at Video Services

Symmetricom announced Dr. Stefan Winkler, principal technologist for
Symmetricom's QoE Assurance Division, will present at the Video
Services Forum (VSF) Meeting on Tuesday, October 2, in Basking Ridge,
New Jersey. Dr. Winkler's presentation will address the advantages of
monitoring end-to-end quality metrics to ensure the highest Quality of
Experience (QoE) for end users.
VSF is an international association composed of service providers,
users and manufacturers dedicated to interoperability, quality metrics
and education for video networking technologies. Hosted by Verizon
Communications (NYSE: VZ - News), the VSF meeting is open to current
and prospective members.

Dr. Winkler's presentation examines the need for QoE together with
traditional Quality of Service (QoS) measurements in IPTV and TV to
mobile applications, discussing best practices for implementing QoE
successfully, which is vital for maximizing IP video service quality
and revenues.
One of the world's top experts in digital media quality, Dr. Winkler
was formerly chief scientist and co-founder of Genista Corp., a
provider of quality assurance solutions for IPTV and mobile media. He
has also held assistant professor positions at the National University
of Singapore (NUS) and the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and has
worked for Hewlett-Packard, Siemens, German Aerospace and Andersen
Consulting. Dr. Winkler has published more than 40 papers on perceptual
quality measurement and is the author of the book, "Digital Video
Quality." He has also been a member and contributor of the Video
Quality Experts Group (VQEG) since its foundation in 1997. Dr. Winkler
holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University
of Technology in Vienna, Austria and a doctorate from the Swiss Federal
Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland.
Symmetricom is a member of VSF under the subgroup, The Video Services
Industry Forum (VSIF), which focuses on defining the technical
requirements and standards necessary to enable service providers to
build networks for end-to-end delivery of video transport services to
end users.
