World Wide Packets Delivers MPLS and PBT Carrier Ethernet On Single Platform At Carrier Ethernet World Congress

GENEVA --(Business Wire)-- World Wide Packets, a leading provider of Carrier Ethernet solutions, today announced that it is participating in the European Advanced Networking Test Center's (EANTC AG) multivendor interoperability showcase at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress 2007 (CEWC). CEWC is the official conference of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF), and is being held in Geneva on Sept. 24-28. As a participant in the showcase, the company is demonstrating its ability to deliver both Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) and Provider Backbone Transport (PBT) transport technologies from a single Ethernet switch platform. In addition to the EANTC demonstration at CEWC, World Wide Packets is showcasing its Carrier Ethernet products and solutions, including its flagship, carrier-class LE-3300, in Stand #6.

The EANTC showcase is the industry's largest ever multivendor interoperability demonstration that includes MPLS and PBT in a large, multivendor network. Through this public demonstration the EANTC is independently verifying the current status of new and mature transport technologies.

"Many domestic and international carriers are capitalizing on the advantages of Ethernet to create ever larger packet-based access and aggregation networks that reduce overall network costs and provide more scalable, higher-bandwidth services," said Chad Whalen, senior vice president of global sales and marketing for World Wide Packets. "They want a more cost-effective method of building metro networks that leverage existing investments in their MPLS core and more scalable and reliable techniques for transport and backhaul of non-Ethernet technologies such as DSLAM aggregation or packet-based 3G/4G mobile services. World Wide Packets products deliver both."

In August, World Wide Packets participated in a "hot stage" test event at the EANTC AG lab in Berlin, demonstrating multi-vendor MPLS and PBT support on the company's LE-311v. EANTC has published a white paper detailing the hot staging that is available on EANTC website (www.eantc.de) and on the company's website (www.wwp.com).
