Typsa wins Panama Canal expansion contract (ingernieria espanola al servicio del Canal de Panama)(Expansion Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Spanish engineering firm Typsa has won a contract for the expansion of the Panama Canal. The firm was selected, along with Dutch company DHV, to collaborate with US company CH2M Hill in the project. According to Typsa CEO Pedro Bueno, the operation will be 'the world's largest public works project to be carried out in the next few years.' The expansion works represent investment of $5.25bn (3.807bn euros) and are scheduled for completion in 2014, although the deadline could be extended for a further two years.
