Artinsoft inks migration contract with Banamex

(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Costa Rican migration software solutions provider Artinsoft has signed its largest contract to date with Mexico's second largest bank Banamex, local newspaper El Financiero reported.

The contract, which was signed in mid-August, calls for Artinsoft to migrate 180 IT systems developed over Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT) Visual Basic 6.0 to Microsoft's .Net language. After April 2008, Microsoft will no longer offer technical support for Visual Basic 6.0, the report said.

"It's the largest project we have ever signed, since we will be migrating 5mn lines of code," Artinsoft's CEO Roberto Leitn was quoted as saying in the report.

Artinsoft, founded in 1993, is a certified Microsoft partner and, besides Costa Rica, has operations in Virginia and California, in the US.
