Verizon Wireless announced that Gartner, Inc. positioned the company in
the Leaders Quadrant in the analyst firm's, "Magic Quadrant for U.S.
Wireless Service Providers," report.

According to Gartner, to be placed in the Leaders Quadrant, a company
must "impact competitors by the choices they make in technology and
handset offerings, their focus on the enterprise segment, and their
capability to differentiate and be first to market with unique
products. The launch of a new handset or technology, recognizing the
need for coverage in a specific area or partnering with new application
providers must all be done with an enterprise focus."

Suppliers of wireless and mobile enterprise networking solutions in the
U.S. were measured against a number of criteria for inclusion in the
Magic Quadrant including "cellular voice, low- and high-speed data
services, and remote access services. Large U.S. cellular service
providers that own licenses, or have partnered to sell regional or
national enterprise wireless voice and data services, in Tier 1 and
Tier 2 markets were also included in the study." "We believe this is an
important study and we are appreciative of the placement. We take great
pride in the network investment that allows us to offer enterprise
customers a wide array of wireless solutions," said Mike Lanman, vice
president and chief marketing officer for Verizon Wireless. "Our
enterprise portfolio, enhanced by the comprehensive suite of IP
products and services and technological innovations offered by Verizon
Business, means enterprise customers have access to turnkey solutions
that can help them improve efficiency, streamline communications and
produce a solid return on investment."

Gartner also examined Verizon Wireless' market understanding and
business model, product, sales and marketing strategies, technology
vision, innovation and geographic reach to determine the company's
completeness of vision. Additionally, Gartner analyzed each company's
ability to execute, overall viability, market responsiveness and track
record. Operations and the customer experience were all taken into
consideration, in addition to pricing and products and services
offerings.

Verizon Wireless offers a host of business application solutions for a
variety of industries from construction, manufacturing and healthcare
to retail, government and public safety. By leveraging mobile
applications, Verizon Wireless helps enterprise businesses increase
productivity, lower management costs and simplify sales while also
assisting to improve efficiency, streamline communications, and produce
a solid return on investment.

Last month, Verizon Business was positioned in the Leaders Quadrant in
Gartner's annual report, "Magic Quadrant for Global Network Service
Providers," by Neil Rickard and Eric Paulak, August 8. Verizon Business
is a recognized leader delivering advanced communications services to
business and government customers in more than 2,700 cities and 150
countries. The company owns and operates one of the most expansive IP
backbone networks in the world. The Verizon Business data network
includes more than 446,000 route miles, including terrestrial and
undersea cable spanning six continents, with access to an additional
187,000 route miles from Verizon Telecom.
