DiamondWare Releases New Version of 3D Voice at the Austin Game Developers Conference

MESA, Ariz. --(Business Wire)-- DiamondWare, the leader in high-definition, proximity-based 3D positional voice, announced today the availability of its next-generation 3D voice platform. Designed for massively multiplayer games, this new release features several standard-setting breakthroughs such as clustering, which enables up to 10,000 active users in a single audio space. In addition to this new milestone in scalability, DiamondWare added new deployment and management tools that dramatically reduce the operational cost of hosting a multiplayer voice environment.

"Real people don't organize themselves into neat channels. They move around and spread out in a space with some audible overlap," said Keith Weiner, CEO of DiamondWare. "The bigger the virtual world, the bigger that problem becomes. Our new release allows game developers to provide a level of realism that, previously, was quite literally unheard of."

"Many people don't realize that gaming is where many VoIP innovations are first deployed," said Jon Arnold of J Arnold & Associates, a Toronto based consulting firm specializing in VoIP. "DiamondWare's ability to provide uniquely mixed 3D high definition audio to 10,000 users in a single channel will change how voice communications are used in large multiplayer games."

New management tools include a console screen to manage clusters, failover to hot-swap an idle computer when an active machine fails and an innovative authentication scheme that eliminates the need for a user accounts database. DiamondWare's voice platform is available as a server license or as a turnkey hosted solution.

Interested parties can see DiamondWare technology live at Booth #716 during the Austin Game Developers Conference on September 6th and 7th or on-line at www.dw.com.
