Firetide Names Michael Dillon to Serve as Vice President, Business Development

LOS GATOS, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Firetide, Inc., a leading developer of wireless mesh networks, today announced that it has named Michael Dillon to serve as the company's vice president of business development, reporting to Bo Larsson, chief executive officer. He will be responsible for leading the company's business development efforts specifically focused on the municipal and public safety markets.

"In this competitive wireless market, Firetide has risen above the crowd and delivered proven wireless technology that is gaining the trust of municipalities and public safety agencies throughout the world," said Mike Dillon. "Firetide has a long-term vision which they have diligently executed without losing focus or commitment, and I am delighted to be able to contribute to the next phase of the company's growth."

Dillon has served most recently as director of digital communities of IBM Corporation, where he executed the company's go-to-market strategy for municipal wireless, public safety, and security sectors, and captured the largest municipal wireless deal in the US to date. He has led global initiatives for broadband, wireless, Internet, and applications, and is a recognized thought leader and spokesman on government-sponsored wireless and public safety issues worldwide.

"The wireless mesh industry is at an important juncture as service providers and municipalities reconsider their investments in public broadband access networks," said Berge Ayvazian, chief strategy officer of Yankee Group. "The addition of Mike Dillon to Firetide's executive management team certainly demonstrates that Firetide is poised to capitalize on its successes to date in the municipal and public safety markets. Mike Dillon's skills, credentials and relationships are assets that will serve Firetide well as the company expands its footprint across these markets worldwide."

Prior to his most recent tenure with IBM, Dillon held senior business development positions at Northrop Grumman, including Director of Strategy, state and local government, with responsibility for establishing the company in the state and local public safety, homeland security, and criminal justice spaces. Preceding Northrop Grumman, he held a prior position with IBM, that of the company's first global public safety and justice consultant. In this role, he led various business process and strategy consulting engagements throughout the US, Western Europe, and Asia Pacific regions.

"Mike's impressive credentials and successful track record make him ideal for this strategic role, as he leads our business development efforts to build upon the momentum we have established," said Larsson. "Firetide is committed to work with our affiliates and partners to deliver the best in wireless mesh solutions to customers throughout the world. We are able to support the growing number of municipalities and public safety agencies looking to deliver multiple applications, including digital video surveillance, first-responder voice communications, and Internet access, over a single wireless infrastructure."

Dillon transitioned to the private sector from a 21-year career in public safety and law enforcement including four years as IT manager for police, fire and the Office of Emergency Management for the city of Oakland, California, and 17 years with the city police departments of Huntington Beach, Cypress, and Costa Mesa, California, as sworn police officer, detective, special projects and custody officer. Mr. Dillon holds a B.A. in Management from the University of Redlands, California.
