BRIEF: Game controller on tour

(Albuquerque Journal (NM) (KRT) Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Aug. 27--Novint Technologies plans to take its touch-simulating Falcon game controller on a 12-week promotional tour to colleges, gaming events and retailers in more than 30 cities, beginning today.

The Falcon Swoop tour aims to advertise the technology video game that pundits and tech magazines have lauded as the next Wii.

"We're taking the Falcon on the road to give people hands-on experience with our products," Antonia Chappel, Novint's vice president of marketing, said in a news release. "When people try the Falcon for the first time, they're typically blown away."

The Falcon, when paired with compatible games, lets users feel weight, shapes and feedback from objects they're handling, such as a basketball.

The tour will include gaming tents with Falcon demos and contests designed to drum up interest in the $189 device.

It will kick off at Kent State University near Cleveland, Ohio, today and travel to cities including New York, Boston, Chicago, Seattle, San Diego, Phoenix, Austin and, of course, Albuquerque.
