Voice Peering Fabric Reaches 200 Billion Minute Run-Rate
NEW YORK, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Stealth Communications today announced its Voice Peering Fabric (VPF) service reached an annualized run-rate of more than 200 billion minutes on Thursday August 2, up from 100 billion minute run- rate in October of 2006.
The record growth in peering telephone calls is driven by demand for routing telephone calls using Voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology and concerns over operating expenses in the highly competitive telecom marketplace using legacy technologies.
"VoIP growth has been phenomenal this year, particularly consumer VoIP. We project that consumer VoIP subscribers will grow more than 70 percent this year, and that VoIP traffic and termination will grow even faster," said Stephan Beckert, Director of Research at TeleGeography.
