MOSAIC: Top emergency comms firm supports world's biggest airshow

(M2 PressWIRE Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)
RDATE:01082007

The safety of over 167,000 visitors was ensured during the world's
largest military airshow after the trial of a new emergency
communications system was implemented free of charge by leading
response team, Vocal.

The Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) is an established aviation
event held annually at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire. The organizers
recognize theimportance ofemergency communications and already
implement its ownindependent resilient fixed line telephone and radio
systems for the event. Additionally, for RIAT 2007, the Medical
Services team utilized the unique services of Vocal's new iModus
platform to communicate with over 100 emergency medical staff using
specially-provided pagers and SMS.

Vocal, who is a market leading provider of corporate communication
solutions, uses SMS text, voice, interactive voice response, paging and
email to disseminate vital information about potential incidents in a
variety of settings. The company provided equipment, training and
24-hour support to the world's biggest military airshow.

Established in 1998, Vocal has been the carrier of choice for over 1500
business worldwide.

AndrewFeatherstone, a member of the Medical Services Major Incident
Team at RIAT, said: "An opportunity arose for the employment of an
emergency corporate communications solution at the show and Vocal were
known to me, based upon their reputation with both the Metropolitan
Police Service and City of London Police. It was most generous of
Vocal to lend their new iModus service free of charge for this annual
event supporting The Royal Air Force Charitable Trust. It was great
for the Medical Services team to try out the new product and be one of
the first to get the opportunity to see the new process in action".

The new iModus platform has been refined so that users only need to be
entered into the system once, which then allows them to be sectioned
into sub-groups for ease of contact from the Vocal emergency contact
centre.

Subscribers receive information, updates and advice on how to react in
the event of an incident. A number of people used the iModus system
throughout the event including the Medical Services Major Incident
Team, staff from the on-site Medical Centre and visiting doctors from
Helicopter Emergency Medical Service.

Vocal offers a number of security and business continuity solutions for
the business community and are trusted by over 2000 companies,
including the emergency services across the United Kingdom.
