The mobile carrier is likely to buy the right to rebroadcast the Olympics programmes, which also will be the first time the international Olympics organizing committee to sell such right to the new media, including mobile phone and Internet companies. Although Zhou did not reveal the specific capital the company will spend on the right, he said that the price the committee fixed was even higher than that the CCTV costs to broadcast the Olympics through TV. At the same time, Zhou aired that the operator was set to achieve the video hookup via the 3G network and likely to adopt HSPA (high-speed packet access) technology in order to guarantee the fluency and distinctness when users watching TV via mobile phones.
