Symmetricom Chief Technology Officer Featured Speaker at Internet TV Technology Conference (iTV Con)

SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Symmetricom, Inc. (NASDAQ: SYMM), a worldwide leader in precise time and frequency technologies that accelerate the deployment and enable the management of next generation networks, today announced Yves Cognet, chief technology officer for Symmetricom's QoE Assurance Division, will present "Internet TV Must Monitor Quality of Experience (QoE) to Maximize Revenue Potential" at the Internet TV Technology Conference (iTV Con) on Tuesday, July 17, 2007 in San Jose, California. Produced by S2 Data Corporation, iTV Con addresses Internet and interactive TV technologies.

WHO: Yves Cognet, Chief Technology Officer, Symmetricom's QoE Assurance Division

WHAT: Presenting "Internet TV Must Monitor Quality of Experience (QoE) to Maximize Revenue Potential" at iTV Con

WHEN: Tuesday, July 17, 2007, 12:15 p.m. - 12:45 p.m. PDT

WHERE: Doubletree Hotel San Jose, 2050 Gateway Place, San Jose, CA 95110, Oak Ballroom

Service and content providers worldwide are intently focused on the new revenue potential to be derived from Internet TV services and other personalized content-delivery mechanisms. In order to ensure the delivery of high quality content and real time applications to consumers, end users' QoE must be monitored across a varying landscape of access networks, device platforms and CPE environments. The ability to quickly and accurately diagnose problems as they arise, and more importantly to prevent future service issues, will be critical for CSPs to control rising customer support costs - and hence for content/application providers (and CDNs) to satisfy increasingly stringent SLAs and retain their customer base.

Mr. Cognet's presentation:

-- Examines the established need to monitor QoE for Internet TV deployments throughout the life of the service.

-- Discusses technical details for the types of measurements that must be a part of any successful QoE assessment.

-- Covers deployment strategies and considerations for QoE monitoring as it relates to Internet TV.

-- Summarizes best practices for implementing QoE successfully into Internet TV deployments in order to maximize new revenue potential.

In 1999, Mr. Cognet co-founded QoSmetrics, a leading provider of network performance assurance solutions for triple play services, which was acquired by Symmetricom in January 2007. Symmetricom's V-Factor(R) metric is based on the Moving Pictures Quality Metrics (MPQM) model, but is adapted specifically for end-to-end video quality scoring. It is the first video quality metric that incorporates both network and content impairments and is capable of evaluating streams of either compressed or uncompressed video. Prior to QoSmetrics, Mr. Cognet was a founder of Experdata and also of Quallaby (acquired by Micromuse). He is an expert in IP networks and testing, having spent more than 25 years in the fields of test & measurement and networking with companies such as Philips Telecom, IBM and Netcom Systems.
