CallXpress(R) 7.9 Unified Communications Solution Now Available from AVST

FOOTHILL RANCH, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Applied Voice & Speech Technologies, Inc. (AVST) today announced general availability of the new version of its flagship unified communications (UC) solution, CallXpress 7.9. Businesses of all sizes can now take advantage of AVST's robust solution, which offers new SIP integrations, enhanced localization features, and the ability for enterprises to define the unified messaging architecture that best meets their storage, access and security needs.

CallXpress 7.9 is the first unified communications solution that gives enterprise decision makers a choice to select from four different UM architectures based on the needs of their business. These four "flavors" of unified messaging - server-based, client-based, secure and simplified - can be uniquely tailored to fit businesses and organizations in a wide range of industries. Customers can also mix and match architectures based on individual departmental or user requirements. This unprecedented flexibility is unique to CallXpress and makes it the ideal UC solution for businesses of all sizes.

"When enterprise decision makers need to replace or upgrade legacy communications systems that are reaching end-of-life, they look to adopt new technologies that can easily adapt and evolve to accommodate a long-term and constantly changing corporate messaging roadmap," said Blair Pleasant, President and Principal Analyst of COMMfusion LLC. "By enabling IT managers to deploy different UM architectures on a user by user basis, and then change methodologies down the road, CallXpress 7.9 provides companies with the flexibility needed to deploy and implement unified messaging, both now and in the future."

In addition to flexible deployment options, CallXpress 7.9 offers the most comprehensive collection of user interface emulations, including Avaya(R) Intuity(TM) AUDIX(R), Octel(R) Aria(R), Octel Serenade(R) and Mitel(R) NuPoint with Centigram interface. This capability alone makes CallXpress the easiest platform to implement and offers the benefits of UC with minimal training and interfaces that are already familiar to users.

According to AVST's Vice President of Product Management, Tom Minifie, general availability of CallXpress 7.9 was contingent on successful field trials of the product. "After a number of successful field trials we are pleased to make CallXpress 7.9 available for our existing customers and future prospects," said Minifie. "The feedback we received was positive with great emphasis placed on CallXpress being even more user friendly than it was before. Testers were particularly enthusiastic about the ability to deploy UM in a manner supportive of their corporate confidentiality and compliance policies."

Additionally, CallXpress 7.9 features new SIP integrations to IP telephony systems, including Avaya, Alcatel(R) and Nortel(R). AVST has also developed a rapid integration tool to assist in future SIP integration projects. The new version is rounded out with expanded localization, new Web PhoneManager (WPM) features, compatibility for Microsoft(R) Outlook(R) 2007 and Microsoft Windows(R) Vista Business.

CallXpress 7.9 is available through AVST's established reseller channels. AVST has an extensive list of partners that sell and support its unified communications solutions throughout the world. For sales information, visit http://www.avst.com/contactus/howtobuy.asp.
