Empirix Expands Coverage at Second IMS Forum Plugfest

IMS Forum Plugfest II sponsor offers its Hammer for IMS test portfolio to facilitate
multivendor IMS interoperability

BEDFORD, Mass. May 31, 2007 Empirix (News - Alert)® Inc., which helps organizations adopt complex
communications solutions with confidence, announced today that its Hammer Testing and Monitoring Portfolio will be used at the second IMS Forum (News - Alert) Plugfest, taking place during the week of June 4th at the University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab (UNH IOL). Empirixs Hammer portfolio will be utilized in a variety of scenarios throughout the week to simulate SIP and IMS end users and emulate IMS infrastructure devices, including the Diameter-based HSS. Empirixs Hammer XMS service monitoring system will also be used to monitor and analyze the various tests performed at the Plugfest. The goal of the second Plugfest will be to examine the interoperability of IMS Quadruple Play (News - Alert) applications and services to identify products and services for voice, video and mobility across multiple wireline, wireless and cable broadband networks. Tests that will be run using Empirixs Hammer for IMS portfolio include instant messaging, fax over IP,presence, and multi-domain calls, among others.

Having participated in the first IMS Forum Plugfest, which was a huge success for both Empirix as well as the Forum itself, we were ready to come back for round two, said Gordon Beith, Senior Product Manager at Empirix, and an active contributor to the IMS Forum. As Empirix focuses heavily on creating solutions that enable companies to feel confident about their IMS adoption plans, our role in the second Plugfest will give us an opportunity to demonstrate Empirixs expertise and knowledge in helping vendors interoperate in an IMS environment. Specifically, were very interested in more advanced tests of IMS applications and interaction with the HSS via the Diameter protocol. Were looking forward to working with the other Plugfest participants on true applications this time around, and building upon the tests we conducted during the first Plugfest focusing on basic call scenarios.

Were glad to have Empirix, with its demonstrated expertise in testing and monitoring complex technologies, participating in the second consecutive Plugfest event, and were excited to have them as one of our Platinum sponsors as well, said Michael Khalilian, Chairman & President of the IMS Forum and CTO of Pervasip Corp. Weve got a new set of challenges outlined for our participants this time around, but were confident that, like the first Plugfest, the companies will rise to the occasion and achieve even greater success.
