Google Acquires Green Border(InvesTrend Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) May 30, 2007 (FinancialWire) Google (NASDAQ: GOOG) has acquired Internet security company Green Border Technologies for an undisclosed sum. Green Border was founded in 2001 and is based nearby Google's Mountain View headquarters. The company offers security software that sets up virtual sessions that are discarded each time the user exits the Internet. The virtualization software competes with offerings from Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) and EMC's (NYSE: EMC) VMware as well as various rival startups. Google has not revealed how it plans to incorporate Green Borders offerings into its applications. Green Border has suspended new downloads of its software pending the acquisition but will still provide technical support for existing customers.
