WildPackets Announces OmniAnalysis 5

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- WildPackets(R) Inc., innovators in advanced network analysis, today announced the upcoming release of OmniAnalysis 5, WildPackets' platform for network and application assurance. The release, currently in customer beta test and available in late June, includes a broad spectrum of specialized solutions designed to meet the requirements of CIOs, data centers, network engineers, field service staff and help desk personnel. Next generation forensic analysis, packet flow reconstruction, and enhanced support for 10 Gigabit, 802.11n, VoIP, data and applications analysis are featured.

"We're committed to solutions that provide critical information tailored to the needs of different users. CIOs and other decision-makers need an objective, detailed understanding of how their networks are performing and where to invest next. Engineers need solutions for new challenges such as server virtualization, VoIP, and policy compliance. Field service managers and help desk staff need an analysis solution for quickly resolving end-user problems. OmniAnalysis 5 includes solutions for all these groups," said Mahboud Zabetian, President and CEO of WildPackets. "We're excited about all the new capabilities in OmniAnalysis 5, and we look forward to showing off our new solutions at Interop this week."

New Offerings for Data Centers and Network Operations Centers

OmniAnalysis 5 introduces new products and features to help data center engineers and network engineers troubleshoot, optimize, and secure networks and applications.

A new Apdex dashboard provides a high-level view of the quality of service that applications are delivering to end users. Apdex, an industry standard developed by the Apdex Alliance (www.apdex.org), provides a single metric that represents that level of satisfaction users are experiencing with applications. When the dashboard reports a low score, engineers can use the OmniAnalysis Platform to drill down for Expert analysis, graphical reports, and the packets themselves to uncover the root cause of the problem.

New VoIP analysis reporting includes experts for Cisco, Avaya, Megaco, SIP, and others, and makes it easier than ever for engineers to troubleshoot VoIP problems.

Next-generation forensics enables engineers to capture, store, and analyze historical network traffic, in order to conduct investigations for troubleshooting, security attack analysis, HR and policy compliance, application performance analysis, and business transaction analysis. OmniAnalysis 5 forensics now features an optimized data-discovery algorithm, along with utilities for reconstructing email, IM, and Web traffic.

The Wi-Fi Alliance has selected OmniPeek Workgroup Pro for the official interoperability test bed for the new 802.11n draft 2.0 specifications. OmniAnalysis 5 enables network engineers to analyze and troubleshoot 802.11n networks, using the same features previously available in OmniPeek and AiroPeek for 802.11a/b/g networks.

With OmniAnalysis 5, WildPackets also introduces new 10 Gigabit hardware. Leveraging this specialized hardware, engineers can effectively use OmniAnalysis to capture and analyze traffic from 10 Gigabit segments.

A new Omni Virtual Network Service enables data center engineers to see the "invisible traffic" inherent in virtual architectures and blade-server deployments. The lightweight service runs on Windows-based virtual servers and enables network traffic to be analyzed with WildPackets' OmniPeek Analyzer.

New Service Offerings

WildPackets is also introducing three new service offerings.

The Strategic Network Audit for CIOs and IT directors who need a thorough, objective assessment of their network provided by experts at network analysis--rather than by an infrastructure vendor or other interested party.

Application Focus Consulting for Field Service provides training and configuration fine-tuning so that field service engineers can troubleshoot and optimize their applications most effectively in the field, using OmniPeek analyzers.

OmniVision for Help Desk provides training and consulting for help desk teams interested in using OmniEngine Desktop to be able to analyze and troubleshoot network problems on end users' systems.

WildPackets OmniAnalysis(TM) Platform

WildPackets' OmniAnalysis Platform is a distributed network analysis platform for troubleshooting and optimizing enterprise networks and applications. The OmniAnalysis Platform comprises OmniPeek network analyzers and consoles, as well as distributed OmniEngines, which analyze data at remote locations on the network. With its open APIs and a growing family of plug-ins, the OmniAnalysis Platform is uniquely designed to meet the ever-changing needs of network engineers responsible for wired and wireless networks and applications such as VoIP and VoWiFi.
