Sabre expects to hire 300 software developers by end-2008

(BNamericas.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) US distribution and IT solutions provider for the travel industry, Sabre Holdings, expects to hire some 300 software developers by the end of 2008 for the new software center it plans to open this year in Argentine capital Buenos Aires, IT news service Canal Ar reported.

From the Buenos Aires center, the company plans to develop applications for all its units globally. Some applications include online travel services Travelocity and lastminute.com.

The company decided to open the new facility in Buenos Aires because of the quality of human resources and competitive costs. Local IT recruitment consultancy Itcon will be in charge of the recruiting process.

"This decision shows Sabre's commitment to the business and our clients in Latin America," Canal Ar quoted Pablo Chalen, manager for Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay at Sabre's unit Travel Network, as saying.

In the Southern Cone, the company has already installed a call center in Uruguayan capital Montevideo to provide services to the company's global operations. The facility employs 900 people.
