Heineken Espana selects Motorola's MC9000 mobile computers(Tele.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Rugged mobile computers from the enterprise mobility business of Motorola Inc (NYSE:MOT), a wireless and broadband communications company, have been selected by Heineken Espana, a Spanish brewery, manufacturer and distributor of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Heineken Espana selected Motorola's MC9000 mobile computers to modernise its retail supply chain and boost operational efficiencies and has reportedly reduced its data loss incidents by 98% since they were deployed. The mobile computers were deployed as part of Heineken Espana's upgrade to its group-wide centralised IT platform, which is used for business units such as Heineken, Amstel, Legado de Yuste and Cruzcampo. The MC9000 mobile computers are used by the company's sales team and local distribution companies, replacing previous handheld devices which allegedly caused information loss, delays in the retail supply chain and data discrepancies. The MC9000 computers run on Microsoft Windows Mobile software, enable simple integration and data transfer between the terminals and the back-end and benefit from Bluetooth capabilities. Motorola deployed the solution in conjunction with implementation partner Telynet. Copyright 2007 M2 Communications Ltd.. Source: Financial Times Information Limited. |
