Healthcare Services Organization Achieves Efficiencies with Ultimate Software's Intersourcing
WESTON, Fla. --(Business Wire)-- Ultimate Software (Nasdaq:ULTI), a leading provider of end-to-end strategic human resources, payroll, and talent management solutions, announced today that Dungarvin, a St. Paul-based healthcare service organization supporting people with developmental disabilities, is more efficiently managing its 2,600-person workforce in 900 locations using Ultimate Software's UltiPro delivered through its Intersourcing service model.
Dungarvin is a national organization of privately-owned companies that are dedicated to providing high quality, community-based support to people with developmental disabilities. Prior to UltiPro, the organization was using a service bureau for payroll and an in-house solution to manage human resources. The lack of integration created data integrity problems, redundant data entry, and cumbersome reporting. The company selected UltiPro in 2004 because of the solution's:

Dungarvin chose Intersourcing because Ultimate Software handles the IT hardware and services needed to fully leverage UltiPro, freeing up its own IT resources to focus on other core projects. One of the advantages of Ultimate Software's Intersourcing is that it includes Web self-service. Dungarvin rolled out manager self-service to the company's 300 executives and supervisors so they can view and manage staff details in such areas as compensation and performance reviews, training, and emergency phone numbers. Regardless of their location or time zone, Dungarvin's managers can access this information over the Internet, without calls or emails to human resources.
"Before UltiPro, we provided managers with reports that were out of date before they even received them. Now that they have UltiPro and can collect information on their own in real-time, we can all operate more efficiently," said Allsup.
Because Intersourcing also includes UltiPro's comprehensive core payroll and human resources functionality, Dungarvin is able to better handle the complexities associated with its workforce, such as employees who work multiple jobs in the same pay period with different rates of pay. UltiPro automatically applies the correct pay rates for Dungarvin employees based on the employee's job code and location, saving time and improving data integrity.
"We have very complex pay scales due to the variety of work that our employees perform," said Allsup. "For instance, an employee is compensated differently depending upon whether the care is provided during waking or sleeping hours. Different jobs may also require more training than others, and those jobs have higher compensation rates. Before UltiPro, we had to take the time to manually look up and enter the rates of pay, so if there was an error or typo, there was a big problem. Now, UltiPro applies the correct wages, expediting the process, improving accuracy, and enhancing the service we deliver to our employees."
Because different jobs at Dungarvin require different conditions of employment, accreditations, and experience, Dungarvin uses UltiPro to perform "gap" analyses, so leadership knows that there are no gaps between the qualifications of the employee and the requirements for the employee's job.
