Ask.com Mobile Wins Best Mobile Site for the 11th Annual Webby Awards

OAKLAND, Calif., May 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The Webby Awards, the leading international honor for the Web, today named Ask Mobile (http://mobile.ask.com/) the Best Mobile Site of 2007. In addition to the prestigious Webby Award, Ask Mobile was chosen as the People's Voice winner by the voting public.

"The Webby Awards honors the outstanding work that is setting the standards for the Internet," said David-Michel Davies, executive director of The Webby Awards. "Ask.com Mobile's Winner selection is a testament to the skill, ingenuity, and vision of its creators."

Since launching in October 2006, Ask Mobile has generated positive feedback and accolades from press and users, and was recently noted as a top mobile site by dotMobi, the leading provider of Internet addresses designed specifically for mobile phones. Designed to minimize keystrokes, increase navigability on small displays and accelerate page loads, Ask Mobile offers a special interface and search tools to help searchers find what they are looking for faster.

"Winning both the Webby and the People's Voice is double confirmation that we are truly delivering useful and innovative products," said Doug Leeds, vice president of product management of Ask.com. "Mobile is increasingly becoming an important access point for searches, and we are extremely proud of the success of our mobile offering."

Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet, including Websites, Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video and Mobile Websites. The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization that includes Harvey Weinstein, Arianna Huffington, Matt Groening, Jamie Oliver, Internet inventor Vinton Cerf, and RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser. The 11th Annual Webby Awards received a record 8,000 entries from over 60 countries and all 50 states.

Founded in 1996, The Webby Awards is known worldwide for its famous five-word speeches.
About Ask Mobile
Ask Mobile (http://mobile.ask.com/), launched in October 2006, has been touted for its unique interface which eliminates the search box from the home page and instead provides links to key search services to minimize keystrokes and increase navigability on small displays. In addition, Ask Mobile utilizes Skweezer technology that "skweezes" Web pages to present content in a format that is easier to view and navigate on small displays and increases download speed. Ask Mobile allows more access to Web content by allowing pages to load that would otherwise be too memory-intensive for most mobile devices and helps searchers find what they are looking for faster.
