Meru Networks unveils products based on IEEE 802.11n Draft specifications

(Tele.com Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge) Enterprise offerings based on the IEEE 802.11n Draft specifications have been unveiled by Meru Networks (Meru), a provider of standards-based workplace mobility infrastructure for wireless voice (VoIP), data and video.



Meru said the new products use its Air Traffic Control technology to enable 802.11n performance and provide a simple model for deployment, operation and migration for enterprises.

According to Meru, its 802.11n product suite includes the AP300 family of dual-radio 802.11 a/b/g/n access points (APs) and the MC5000 modular, multi-gigabit, 5-blade chassis controller for up to 1000 APs (per chassis).



Meru claimed the MC5000 is intended to handle 11n's increased bandwidth requirements, with the 3-Tier Traffic Distribution System (3TDS) available as an option to the Meru System Director operating system. The company said the products represent the most complete 802.11n solution, from air to core, in the industry, meeting business needs for over-the-air coverage, performance, capacity, compatibility and wired infrastructure scalability.

The AP300 APs provides sustained high wireless capacity through a wireless LAN deployment and enables administrators to compensate for coverage holes and fluctuating data rates created by MEMO technology, more easily.

Meru claimed its fourth-generation WLAN architecture offers three main benefits for 802.11n, including cost-effective scalability and maximum Return-on-Investment and ensures there is no compromise on network load demands, performance and compatibility.
