CSC Part of Verizon Business Team Awarded GSA Networx Universal Contract

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., April 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Computer Sciences Corporation announced today that it is part of a team led by Verizon Business that has been awarded the General Services Administration's (GSA) Networx Universal program.

Verizon Business is one of three prime contractors awarded the Networx Universal contract. The Networx Universal program, which has a four-year base period and three two-year options, is among the largest federal communication contracts in history and has an estimated overall value of $20 billion among all awardees. The total estimated contract value to CSC if all options are exercised was included in the company's April 2 press release on previously unannounced federal contracts.

Networx Universal, a primary replacement vehicle for the expiring FTS2001, FTS2001 Crossover and Federal Wireless contracts, will provide a comprehensive range of domestic and international telecommunications and networking services, and technical solutions to federal government agencies. Under the terms of the agreement, CSC will provide Verizon Business with customer-specific network design support and engineering services, managed tiered security services and anti-virus managed services, which provide detection and removal of system viruses.

"CSC is excited to be a part of the winning Verizon Business team selected to help the GSA usher in a new era of advanced communications for the federal government," said James W. Sheaffer, president of CSC's North American Public Sector business unit. "Working with Verizon Business and the other team members, CSC will apply its vast experience and credentials to help the GSA bring the many advantages of new communications technologies and services to its government customers."
