Surf the Net from the Big Game, Upload Digital Photos Laptop-Free: Tropos Networks Names Finalists for ''Coolest Use of Citywide Wi-Fi Photo Contest''

SUNNYVALE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Finalists in Tropos Networks' "Coolest Use of Citywide Wi-Fi Photo Contest" reveal that Internet connectivity is ubiquitous, providing anytime, anywhere access. The 12 finalist photos were chosen for their creative and unique depictions including such cool applications as a system that snaps a photo and uploads it to the web, surfing the web from the beach, a park, even a baseball game, and playing a video game online while in the car.

Entrants were asked to submit an original photo that best depicts a "unique and cool way to use citywide Wi-Fi." The winner, to be chosen by voters online from among the 12 finalists, will win an Apple 17" MacBook Pro computer with AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi and Final Cut Express HD video editing software. Each finalist has won a Sony mylo(TM) personal communicator.

"Citywide Wi-Fi networks are making Internet connectivity as ubiquitous as cell phone access. The difference is that a citywide W-Fi network provides true broadband connectivity," said Tropos vice president of marketing Bert Williams. "These contestants show that from Wi-Fi phones to cameras to traditional laptops, people can connect to the Internet with high speed broadband connectivity anywhere, anytime. The contest has been a fun way to show people the different ways people are taking advantage of the networks."

The 12 Contest finalists, each of whom has won a Sony mylo personal communicator, include:

Kevin Kincaid, Seattle, WA - "Yes boss, I'm working from home today"
