Securely Enabling VoIP Remote Users

TMCnet Associate Editor

Enterprises today are increasingly focused on improving productivity and collaboration. Toward that end, companies are embracing VoIP and unified communications technology; definitely a positive step in the right direction. Despite this trend, though, the true potential of new business applications—such as IM, whiteboarding, and presence—still has not been realized.

If these tools are available, and their benefits are known, why aren’t they being fully utilized? This is the question that Sipera Systems (News - Alert) will be taking on in an upcoming Webinar titled “Securely Enabling VoIP Remote Users.”

In this Webinar, Sipera will address the needs of enterprises to open up their communications systems beyond their physical perimeters, and the security issues that can arise when this happens. For example, to introduce Web phones and dual-mode handsets for use by road warriors and consultants, companies need to resolve privacy and authentication issues and firewall/NAT transversal, as well as enforce unified communications policies and protect against application layer threats.

To show how these challenges can be overcome, Sipera will examine deployment issues that enterprises are encountering as they extend their VoIP networks to soft clients, hard phones at remote sites, dual-mode handsets, and click-to-talk/Web phone application. The discussion will also include a look at various security threats, including:
  • Reconnaissance
  • Denial of Service
  • Spoofing
  • VoIP spam
This Webinar, scheduled for Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern Time (11:00 a.m. Pacific Time) will be presented by Krishna Kurapati, Founder and Chief Technology Officer at Sipera Systems; and Erik Linask, Associate Editor at Technology Marketing Corporation.

Attendees should bring questions; after the presentation, the Webinar will be open for a live Q and A. For more information and to register, go to www.tmcnet.com/webinar/sipera.
