SMB Demand for Disaster Recovery Products Increases Unitrends' Year-over-Year Revenues 75 Percent; 2007 First Quarter Revenue on Track to Increase 80 Percent

COLUMBIA, S.C. --(Business Wire)-- Unitrends, a leading provider of innovative, integrated solutions that protect and restore critical data and systems, today announced it achieved 75 percent sales growth in 2006 and is on track to grow its year-over-year revenues 80 percent in the first quarter of 2007. Customer demand for reliable and rapid data protection and recovery solutions has driven Unitrends' strong growth, as well as its support for an increasing number of software platforms and ongoing product innovations - including Unitrends' Continuous Exchange Protection capability.

"Unitrends' emphasis on innovative backup and rapid recovery solutions for the small and mid-tier market has proven popular with a growing and diverse customer base," said Duncan McPherson, Unitrends' president and CEO. "More than 1,000 customers are using Unitrends' solutions worldwide, and demand continues to strengthen. Small and mid-sized businesses increasingly require advanced solutions that enable them not only to protect their data but also to achieve higher levels of availability and improved recovery times in the event of a system or site failure."

Unitrends has seen strong growth in new system sales of its Data Protection Unit (DPU) "rapid recovery" appliances. This has been driven in part by the introduction of its Continuous Exchange Protection (CEP) capability, which enables small and mid-sized enterprises to recover critical e-mail from failed Microsoft Exchange servers, from server-level failure all the way down to individual messages. CEP was one of the first true real-time, complete data protection solutions specifically designed for Microsoft Exchange. It provides assurance that businesses' information will be available at any given point after a server or system failure. This is an increasingly crucial business requirement as e-mail has become a vital business application in today's work environment.

With increased government regulations, such as HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, SEC Rule 17a-4, and the December amendments to Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, organizations are required to capture and retain all e-mails and other business information, and many recognize they must take steps to strengthen their backup and disaster recovery capabilities. With Unitrends' expert technical support and advanced backup, archiving and recovery services, small and medium-sized companies can focus on running their businesses, knowing that their data is secure and they are fully protected in the event of a data system failure or loss.

Innovative Solutions for Small and Mid-Sized Businesses (SMBs)

The demand for backup and disaster recovery systems is continuing to grow, and IDC estimates that the Disaster Protection and Recovery market will increase to $200 million by 2011. And, nearly 50 percent of SMBs surveyed for a recent Economist Intelligence Unit said unplanned IT system downtime could jeopardize their entire business.

Because of this risk, SMBs need business continuity solutions that provide highly reliable, rapid backup and recovery technology, and which are affordable, easy to deploy and centrally managed. With an affordable family of disk-to-disk backup appliances and rapid recovery solutions, Unitrends delivers all of this and more.

Unitrends' innovative solutions are specifically designed to provide small and mid-sized businesses with the same level of data protection and rapid, point-in-time system recovery that has historically only been available large companies with equally large IT budgets. Unlike most disaster recovery systems that only focus on retrieving the data, Unitrends' Rapid Recovery solutions quickly restore everything necessary to get systems back up and fully functioning, including:

-- Operating Systems Recovery - with all passwords and settings

-- Applications Recovery - recovered to an operational level

-- Data Recovery - all user data and files

"Unitrends is committed to providing customers with unprecedented data recovery functionality in one easy-to-use device," said McPherson. "By providing highly reliable, rapid backup and recovery solutions that are affordable, easy to deploy and centrally managed, Unitrends enables small and mid-sized businesses to enjoy enterprise-class protection."
