Acme Packet Innovation Recognized, 22nd Patent Secured


BURLINGTON, Mass. --(Business Wire)-- Acme Packet(R) (NASDAQ: APKT), the leader in session border control solutions, today announced it has received its seventh U.S. patent, its 22nd overall, for its Net-Net(R) session border controller (SBC) product family. The seven U.S. patents and 15 additional foreign patents represent a broad portfolio of intellectual property developed over seven years. This latest achievement illustrates Acme Packet's commitment to the technical innovation required to enable secure, high-quality interactive IP communications across access and interconnect network borders.

U.S. Patent Number 7,151,781, entitled, "System and Method for Providing Session Admission Control" was issued on December 16, 2006. This patent covers Acme Packet's flexible call admission control algorithms. These algorithms are key elements in providing security and quality of service at network operator borders. In addition to the 22 existing patents, there are an additional 15 applications currently pending in the U.S. Patent Office and 21 foreign counterparts. The family of patents covers many of the key features and techniques used by session border controllers.
