Top Players Form Telecom Expense Management Trade Association

SAN FRANCISCO --(Business Wire)-- With a goal toward promoting the benefits of the rapidly growing telecom expense management field (TEM), a group of industry leaders has formed the Telecom Expense Management Industry Association (TEMIA). The 23 charter members are the top TEM firms as rated by Gartner, Inc.'s MarketScope for Telecom Expense Management, 2H06. On behalf of their clients, the current membership of TEMIA helps control in excess of $20 billion in domestic and international expenses associated with voice, data, and wireless communications.

TEMIA is actively seeking a broad range of members. "Our goal as an association is to encompass TEM-related companies of all sizes, the carriers with whom we work, and a wide variety of vendors in our industry," explained David Spofford, TEMIA Board Chairman and President. "Our initial membership includes small and large entities specializing in all delivery models including licensed software suppliers, Application Service Providers (ASP), Software as a Service models (SaaS), and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO)."

Gartner Comments on TEMIA Formation

"The formation of TEMIA comes at exactly the right point in the advancement of the TEM industry," says Eric Goodness, Research Vice President for Gartner, Inc. "It is essential that an association such as TEMIA exists so that communications and cooperation are facilitated between market players to advance TEM solutions adoption," continued Goodness. "Gartner views TEMIA as a valuable resource to educate customers, outsourcers and carriers about the best practices to best manage network and telecom related assets and expenses."

Gartner has estimated that the TEM market will generate revenue from software and IT services of more than $400 million in 2006. According to Gartner, the market will grow at a compound annual rate of almost 40% from 2006 to 2010, reaching $1.5 billion in 2010.

"Our goal is to help TEM service providers, their partners, their customers, and their customer's vendors to understand and achieve the substantial benefits available through effective TEM," said David Perdue, TEMIA Board Member and Membership Committee Chairman. "The rapid emergence of an industry like TEM often necessitates a strong educational effort to promote its wide-ranging benefits. We will seek to put forward this information to all interested parties. We will also look for other opportunities to further TEMIA's goals, such as establishing standards with carriers, holding annual meetings and providing industry representation at trade shows and other forums."

TEMIA's first member meeting is scheduled for March 8th and 9th at the Gaylord Resort and Spa in Orlando, Florida, following the VoiceCon Spring 2007 Conference. For information about TEMIA events or membership, contact TEMIA Executive Director Claire Mendez, at 330-208-2640.
