Kazakhstan-NATO individual cooperation plan ready

(Interfax News Agency Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)ASTANA. Jan 13 (Interfax) - Experts from NATO and Kazakhstan have compiled an individual partnership action plan for future cooperation.

"A meeting of the military-political leading committee in the NATO- Kazakhstan format discussed and prepared for final approval the Individual Partnership Action Plan, a document that harmonizes all aspects of practical interaction and dialogue between Kazakhstan and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization," a Defense Ministry press release received on Friday says.

"The plan is aimed at strengthening regional and international security, deepening the process of transformation of the armed forces, raising operational compatibility, improving cooperation in science, emergency civil planning, environmental protection and terrorism fighting," the release says.

"Kazakhstan does not have the objective of joining NATO. Nevertheless, the development of mutually beneficial military-technical and political cooperation with the alliance will promote strategic security in the region and guarantee support in tackling a broad range of pressing questions," the release says.
