Two more diagnosed with H5N1

(UPI Top Stories Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)The World Health Organization says two young Turkish children being treated for bird flu have been found to have the virulent H5N1 virus.

A spokesman said the children were aged 5 and 9, the BBC reported.

Two children from the eastern Turkey town of Dogubeyazit who died last week also were found to have the H5N1 flu strain.

Worried residents of the town have besieged the local hospital there seeking treatment for symptoms, the BBC said. There is no evidence, however, that the disease has begun to spread between humans.

Turkish officials are said to be struggling to finish an emergency cull of poultry to contain the virus, with 12,000 birds, chickens and turkeys killed.

WHO officials were expected to arrive in the area on Sunday.
