Be 'outrageously blessed' in 2006

(Philippine Daily Inquirer Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)GOD LOVES CATHOLIC prayer Community founder Robert Castaeda will discuss "How to be outrageously blessed" at 7:30 p.m., starting Jan. 11 and every second Wednesday thereafter, at the Sacro Costato Retreat House, 9 Scout Lozano, Quezon City. Praise and worship, with Holy Mass, will precede the session.

Bro. Robert, a pastoral team worker of God Loves, experienced God's small miracles in his life when he gave up his jewelry business and concentrated on forming future God Loves members through Life in the Spirit seminars (LSS) and praise and worship on Wednesday evenings.

God's providence

Robert follows what he preaches. In the years that he didn't have a business, he trusted that the Lord would provide. He did!

Bro. Robert baked cakes and sold "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books distributed by Emerald Communications owned by Christy Aspiras.

In the 15th year of God Loves, things are back to normal. Robert is now in partnership with Raffy Florencio selling Technomarine watches.

God Loves will hold its celebration 1:30-7 p.m., Jan. 29, at the Big Tent, 1 Ligaya St., Holy Spirit Drive, Isidora Hills, Quezon City.

On Jan. 28, a Catholic Life in the Spirit seminar will be held 8 a.m.-7 p.m., at Sacro Costato. Text Bro. Robert at 0917-530l2l3.

The vision of God Loves is to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The community has 80 active members led by a pastoral team composed of Robert Castaeda, Filaine Tan, Jesse Santos and Ricky Berenguer. Fr. Domie Guzman, SPC, is the spiritual director.

In charge of worship are Gener Siriban, Sonny Cadiz, Rod Simon Paul Almendras and Janet Erespe. Henry Pealosa plays the drums in the choir.

Tent for the Lord

God Loves will build a "tent for the Lord" (chapel) behind the five-bedroom house the community is renting at 84 10th St. New Manila, QC. It will take some time. God Loves will occupy its new house as soon as it is ready. In the meantime, it invites people to join the LSS and rediscover Jesus and be empowered by His spirit.

Exhibit

The Sto. Nio de Buena Obra owned by Nila Almoradie of Cavite City will join the "Fiesta del Sto. Nio" exhibit at the Philippine National Bank Financial Center, Jan. 19-27. The image at the house of Aling Nila on 554 Rafael Palma St., Cavite City is invoked for healing of the sick. Call (046)5040472 anytime from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. or text 0921-4125478. Aling Nila goes into a trance when she is healing.

Registration

The Congregacion del Santissimo Nombre del Nio Jesus will register Sto. Nio images 9 a.m.-7 p.m., Jan. 16-18, at the PNB Long Gallery.

Enthronement of the "Nombre" and first day of novena is Jan. 19 at 4 p.m. Novena Masses are at 7 p.m., Jan. 20-27. Procession is at 3 p.m., Jan. 29, from Philtrade on Roxas Boulevard to Quirino Grandstand at Rizal Park where a solemn High Mass will be celebrated.

More funds needed

The Peninsula Manila chair PL Lim hosted a dinner for Masbate Bishop Joel Baylon to raise more funds for the St. Anthony de Padua Cathedral. Guests included benefactors: former Malacaang Executive Secretary Ruben Torres; former Justice Secretary Silvestre Bello III; lawyer Jose Yulo; lawyer Jose Malang, representing Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office general manager Rosario Uriarte; Philippine National Bank chair Flor Tarriela with husband lawyer Ed Tarriela; San Miguel Corp. vice president for agri-business Greg Ellescas, Jr.; Philippine State College of Aeronautics president Enerico Sampang with wife Rona; and Supreme Court Justice Leo Quisumbing, who has inspired many fundraising events. Tony Medina, former Masbate vice governor, coordinated the dinner.

The Masbate Cathedral is 51 years old and showed wear and tear for many years until the Project Cathedral Wings spearheaded the restoration in 2002. Though P25 million was raised, the complete restoration project left a debt of P5 million, half of which the San Antonio de Padua Society was able to raise. Those who want to help may text Tony Medina at 0906-2283750.
