Convergys Provides Outsourced Services to InterContinental Hotels GroupTMCnet Contributing Editor Convergys (News - Alert) Corporation, a global provider of customer care, human resources and billing services, has reportedly signed a contract to provide human resources business process outsourcing services to support the Asia Pacific region of the InterContinental Hotels Group.
Under the six-year contract, HR data administration and payroll services will be provided by Convergys’ service centers in Bangalore, India; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Dalian, China. These services will be provided for IHG corporate and reservations center employees in the Asia Pacific region. Chris Paull, vice president shared services, global human resources, InterContinental Hotels Group, explained in a press release that due to their rapidly growing business in the Asia Pacific region they required a partner that could provide them “with a scalable and cost-effective HR solution capable of accommodating our rapid employee growth across this diverse region.” Karen Bowman, president of Convergys’ Employee Care business, believes their HR BPO service delivery model will ensure that IHG has ready access to information about its workforce. Bowman said that the model will enable IHG to improve employee satisfaction and productivity and drive strategic business decisions regarding its human capital. IHG is reportedly the world’s largest hotel group by number of rooms with recognizable hotel brands such as InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, and Candlewood Suites. Convergys was in news last month for announcing the appointment of Clark D. Handy as senior vice president of Human Resources. From December 11, Handy will lead the development and implementation of human resource programs and processes for Convergys’ more than 68,000 employees worldwide.
